Catching Up
Plus: Original Art, Trusting Your Gut, and Pluribus
Hello Everyone!
I know it’s been a while—but I took a bit of a step back from socials briefly, and then was slowly working my way back to it. But I think I’m gonna start to post here more regularly again now.
Enough of that, though—there’s just so much news to share since I left. Especially about Summit:
The Summit Comics Sneak Peak!
The first-ever look at several Summit Comics characters leading into our big initial Pinnacle release in January. On the cover, you’ve got Vesper, Granite, Upheaval, Erebra, and…
GOLDEN SUN!
Also revealed in the past weeks, the first look at the Summit Comics character that I co-created with Marcus Jimenez. Complete with that stunning cover image by Marcus himself.
Here’s some more information on the character that was released:
I’m so excited for people to see what we have in store for you—with Golden Sun, yes, but also with the incredible things being developed for Summit as a whole. I feel honored and just inspired and creatively invigorated to be a part of it.
And if other writers want to be a part of it too, there’s still one last day to send in a submission and a two-page script for the Summit Comics Talent Search. We will also be having one for artists very soon, so keep an eye out for that if you are interested.
Oh, and also—one last thing to plug…
Holiday Spirits: Thanksgiving Special!
https://orangeconeproductions.com/products/holiday-spirits-thanksgiving-special
I wrote a story in this, drawn by Jared Lockhart—that I just had a blast with! Thanksgiving-themed horror. With several other amazing stories, such as Joseph Jasionowski and Brian Wolf’s. Just something fun and festive for those of you in the mood for some Thanksgiving leftovers.
All right, now let’s get to it…
What I’m Doing:
Well, the holidays were a fun few days where we had five dogs and around ten people in our house for Thanksgiving dinner—so that was nice. Always good to spend some quality time with family.
I also went to Big Apple Comic Con recently, which was a ton of fun—got to talk with some great people, and picked out some original art that I was so excited to put on my wall the second I got back:

My photo doesn’t do these justice whatsoever, but the fact that I now get to look at a piece of Keith Giffen art every day is just surreal to me. And the fact that it’s him channeling Kirby is even cooler! Giffen’s work has had such a profound impact on, and I truly believe he is one of the most underrated and brilliant creators in comics history. I really feel like I struck gold finding these two at the Anthony’s Comic Book Art booth for such great prices.
But, mostly, I’ve just been taking the end of the year natural lull of everything to get some work in on some bigger projects going into 2026. I’m really excited about one thing, in particular, but I’ll talk about that more below…
What I’m Writing:
Project Plenty I will now say is my story in Holiday Spirits. The story centers around the spirit of gluttony as he comes to Thanksgiving dinner. It’s very gross and disgusting horror, but in the most fun way.
Project Super-Star: I just looked back at the last post, and so much has happened with this in such a short time. It is now 100% written—and the best artist possible for this project is attached. Every last worry about this project that still remained was immediately gone once I knew who would be bringing it to life. Just wait until you see what my fellow Summit partner Ignacio Di Meglio is gonna do with this book when it gets into your hands!
Golden Sun: Eh, why not tell you just one—it’s pretty much been announced anyway. I wrote the first big arc of Golden Sun’s story within Summit, and I really am happy with how it turned out—I think it helped me really understand and lock in how I see this character fitting into the Summit Universe as a whole. I’m interested in seeing people’s reactions to it and to him.
Project Eternity: Okay, so this is probably the longest period I have taken between starting and finishing a script in a while, and it’s because I was lucky enough to have a couple of other projects come my way and this, thankfully, had the ability to fall a bit to the wayside because it was developing at a slower pace. I finished the second issue like six months ago, and nothing was wrong with it—it did everything it needed to do for the story—but I just knew I could do better with it. I finally was able to get back to it in the past weeks and over the course of a few days did a near-complete revision—and I think it is just so much better in every possible way. I’m so glad I trusted my gut and just erased it all and restarted—and gave it the time to step away and come back. Now I am currently writing issue three, which takes on a very different structure from the others to tell its own kind of mini-story—and so far I really am enjoying working that out.
Now onto two new projects…
Project Bloodbound: I decided I wanted to do something with Nicolò Arcuti again, and there’s this one idea I’ve had poking around in my head for over a year—specifically pictured in and thought of for his style. I sent him a script and he already sent me some layouts. Oh. My. God. This is going to be something just incredibly beautiful and haunting—just a masterfully drawn gothic horror story that showcases all that Nicolò can do.
Project Astro: This one may be too early to even put here—but I like putting things out into the world and holding myself sort of accountable through these updates. But this may possibly be the biggest comic I’m currently developing as of right now if it pans out as I’m hoping—the same number of issues as Project Eternity, but probably a larger page count per issue. The scope matches, too—and I think this may be one of the biggest swings I could possibly be taking right now. It’s a story I’m so excited about, and I’m doing a lot of research and doing a lot of detailing out before I put any actual text on pages. I think this, if done right, could really show what I’m capable of as a writer within this medium—I want something that I can really put my all into in a whole other way than I do for anything else.
What I’m Reading:
This is just too long to list, with how much I missed—and the non-comic book I’m reading as of right now spoils too much about Project Astro. I’m just gonna say for the most recent stuff that comes to mind, Absolute Batman #14 and DC K.O. #2 were both great. Those would definitely be my top two from the past week, for sure. Both just big and bombastic, delivering moments you just NEED to talk to people about and are psyched to see what happened next with. There are so many others I missed the chance to shout out, but next time, I’ll just start from here. There are just so many great comics right now.
What I’m Watching:
Biggest thing for me is how Pluribus might just be one of my favorite shows I’ve watched in so long. Vince Gilligan and his entire team are just brilliant, Rhea Seehorn deserves an Emmy, and I need the next episodes NOW! From when it initially dropped and I first watched the show, I knew this would be one of my new favorites—and it still has me just as in awe of what it’s doing after its fifth episode. This show couldn’t be more up my alley, and the only reason I am not getting into so many specifics is the more blind you go into what may be one of the best modern pilots I’ve watched personally, the better. Just masterful sci-fi.
I also binged Silicon Valley in around a weekend recently—for the first time ever. It may be one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a bit, I laughed hysterically at least several times an episode most of the way through. Then I started watching, and am currently on season three of (another one I am so behind the curve on) The Righteous Gemstones—which is also just incredible! Danny McBride’s Megachurch Succession—I’m an idiot for waiting this long. Just balances character and humor and all of these much larger things it touches on so well. Also rewatching a lot of classic Twilight Zone, but that’s more just because it’s the best.
As for movies, I recently was shown Carry-On by my step-sister over Thanksgiving weekend, and I really enjoyed it. A good popcorn thriller. And the best movie I saw recently in theaters was probably…Predator: Badlands—because, of course it would be, since the Predator franchise is just awesome, and Dan Trachtenberg just pulled off a Yautja-centered entry in the series. Elle Fanning was a highlight too—just incredible in both her roles as two very different Weyland-Yutani synths.
Okay, that’s all for today—but I PROMISE it won’t be this long until next time. Until then!

Great stuff!
